Supermarket chains these days have greatly expanded their product range from just groceries to almost anything under the sun. Consumers, on the other hand, value the convenience of only having to make one stopover on their shopping spree.
Grocery chain Aldi is known for this, but if you’ve never shopped there you might have heard the phrase and wondered: what are Aldi special buys? Read on for an introduction to your new favorite things.
What are Aldi special purchases 2022?
Aldi Special Buys, also known as Aldi Finds in the US, are limited-time, limited-quantity products that launch weekly. This includes groceries as well as non-food items such as household goods, car accessories, electronics and gardening supplies. Stores will only receive one shipment of Special Buys for that week.
In addition, products are launched seasonally and vary in price, although they are competitively priced and often less than comparable quality goods from major retailers.
Curious where to find them in store, what to do if you miss one you really wanted, or how to snag one without leaving your home? Here’s a complete guide to Aldi Special Buys!
What type of items are Aldi special purchases?
There are no limits to Aldi special purchases, because the variety is so great.
Aldi special purchases can include: clothing, shoes, office supplies, outdoor living items, garden supplies, car accessories, electronics, books, baby supplies, home decor, bath and beauty, pet products and loads more…
The list really goes on, and these are non-food items only!
Where can you find Aldi special purchases?
Non-food and durable (think chips, coffee, cookies, etc.) Aldi specials take up most of the store’s center aisles and are marked with special red-and-white shelf labels that read “Aldi specials” at the top.
These central locations are also known as the “Aisle of Shame” in social media groups, so named because they are dangerously tempting.
You could walk in for a single item and shamefully leave with an entire shopping cart full of Aldi specials!
Perishable Aldi special purchases are either stored with other refrigerated goods in the cold cuts/cheese/take and bake pizza/spreads area or in the floor cooler for frozen goods.
Again, they are marked with special Aldi Special Buys tags and can be mixed with everyday items.
Particularly large items that do not fit on the shelves, such as garden furniture sets, are distributed where each individual store has space for them.
Luckily, because they’re bigger, they’re not hard to find if you look around the store well.
Additionally, Aldi employees are known for their friendliness and willingness to help – if you’re having trouble finding something in the store, just ask politely!
If they have, chances are someone will direct you there.
How much do Aldi special purchases cost?
Aldi Special Buys vary in price depending on the item, but as with their everyday products, the prices are quite low, especially when compared to similar items on the market that are even sold on Walmart or Amazon.
Because of this, it’s not uncommon to see items selling for half the price elsewhere.
However, lower prices do not mean lower quality. Aldi Special Buys are more affordable alongside everyday items due to the company’s business model, which ruthlessly cuts operating costs and passes the savings on to the shopper.
When it comes to Aldi special purchases, it certainly helps that the vast majority of products are private labels that are manufactured exclusively by and for Aldi.
When will Aldi special purchases be restocked?
Aldi special purchases are restocked in most stores every Wednesday.
According to Cooking Light’s Zee Krstic, who spoke to two buyers from Aldi companies, “more rural locations” which have a different distribution chain could see replenishment on Sundays.
To find out exactly when your Aldi Special Buys will be restocked, you can visit the Aldi website. Go to Weekly Ads in the top menu bar.
It should tell you what city or town ads you’re looking at. If it’s wrong, you have the option to change it.
Below that it says “Viewing: Weekly Ad” and then gives the valid dates, which start on either a Wednesday or a Sunday. That’s your answer right there.
The first date is the start of your Aldi special purchase week, but the end date doesn’t necessarily mean that all remaining purchases will be pulled off the shelves.
If the item doesn’t sell out immediately, you may have more than a week to go in there and make your purchase.

Can you see Aldi special buys before they go on sale?
You can absolutely see upcoming Aldi special buys before they hit shelves. Aldi makes this very easy, both online and in print.
To see upcoming Aldi Special Buys on their website, hover over “Weekly Specials” in the menu bar; A drop down menu will appear with the option for upcoming Aldi special purchases. Click on it and you will see the following week’s goods.
You can also use Aldi’s mobile app. It’s the fourth option at the bottom of the main screen, “Upcoming Aldi Specials”. You may need to pull down to refresh the previous week’s data.
Finally, Aldi inserts small “Sneak Peak” ads when you exit the store. You can grab them completely freely on your way out.
Is Aldi bringing back Aldi special purchases?
You’re in luck – Aldi has been known for bringing back popular Aldi special buys, although that’s by no means a sure thing. Some come back every year, some even twice a year.
But some Aldi special purchases will never come back.
The only way to find out if something is coming back is to look out for it on Aldi Special Buys Sneak Peaks, their website or mobile app.
Aldi’s website states: “We use our Aldi Special Buys program to test new products.
If an item sells well, it could come back as an ALDI find all year round or even be added to our daily range.”
The latter option is the best possible result – and that’s why it’s important that you make your voice heard at Aldi headquarters!
This happened with the hugely popular Stonemill Who Needs the Bagel condiment, which started out as a find and earned a permanent place on the shelf with its other condiments. Dreams do come true!
Can you reserve an Aldi special purchase?
Unfortunately, you cannot reserve an Aldi special purchase.
The most practical way to do this would be to call the store, but individual Aldi branches don’t list their phone numbers, so there’s no way of reaching your specific location to place a hold.
Aldi instead encourages shoppers to come as early as possible on Wednesdays to check out new purchases.
However, there is a way to jump onto an item if you’ve been waiting for it but can’t get to the store soon enough.
Assuming it’s not a huge object, again like a patio set, the Find will likely appear in Aldi’s Instacart shop (for American customers).
With Instacart, customers can shop online and then either pick up at the curb or even have purchases delivered, so it’s a great option for people who have to work in the mornings.
Can you also buy Aldi special offers somewhere else?
Regarding retail stores or online shopping sites like Amazon, no, you won’t find Aldi Special Buys anywhere except in Aldi stores.
Again, this is because their products are part of their own brands.
However, Aldi shoppers have reported that high-demand purchases online (presumably from cart hoarders) have been resold on sites like Ebay for much more than their original price.
An example is the infamous Aldi Wein advent calendar, which retailed for around $70 but in one instance was resold on Ebay for $300.
So if you’ve missed something and are willing to research and then pay just because a find is no longer available at Aldi, that doesn’t mean you can’t find one elsewhere.
Is Aldi doing anything to stop car hoarders?
According to their website, the company has no official rules on limiting products per customer, but individual stores can act to the best of their ability.
If there’s an issue where you live, talk to your local store manager next time you visit and encourage everyone you know who shops there.
